The University of Music Karlsruhe, founded in 1971, is a public music school seated in Karlsruhe, Baden-Wuerttemberg. It provides nearly 650 students with an artistic and academic education. Aside from the teacher education program “Artistic Teacher Education (School Music)“, the University offers a number of study programs at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. The programs offered at Bachelor’s level include “Musicology/Music Computer Science“ (B.A.), “Opera Voice“ (B.A.), “MusicTheaterDirecting“ (B.A.), as well as “Music Journalism in Broadcasting and Multimedia“ (B.A.). At Master’s level, the study programs “Musicology“ (M.A.), “Music Computer Science“ (M.A.), “Opera Voice“ (M.A.), “Music Journalism in Broadcasting and Multimedia“ (M.A.), as well as “MusicTheaterDirecting“ (M.A.) are on offer. The University’s portfolio of study programs is complemented by the “Solist Examination“ program, a postgraduate study program for instrumentalists, singers, composers, and conductors, as well as the supplementary study programs “Chamber Music“, and “Lied Interpretation“. As a university entitled to confer doctoral degrees, the University of Music Karlsruhe also offers a doctoral program in Music Education, as well as in Musicology and Media Studies (Music Journalism). Prerequisite to study at the University of Music Karlsruhe is the completion of an admission exam.
