Description
Wood is one of the most important resources worldwide. It is a renewable resource, so it can be used for building instead of non-renewable materials. However, forests do not offer an endless supply of timber and reforestation takes time. Wood must be used responsibly and sustainably by recycling or developing innovative approaches, for example, and students in Wood Construction & Wood Technology can learn to do that. Subjects learned in the programs are various and include Forest Measuring, Wood Anatomy and Structure, Wood Mechanics, Physical Properties of Wood, Furniture Design, Agricultural Management, Materials and Construction, Biology and Environmental Science. During the program, students gain understanding of planning, costing and managing the production of wood-related projects, different manufacturing technologies, including digital manufacturing, recycling and sustainable manufacturing. Wood Construction & Technology is a challenging field to work in, but there is a demand for qualified professionals on the market. Career prospects for graduates are various – design technician, carpenter, product developer, wood processer and manufacturer, timber farmer, sales and distribution, marketing and management and many more.
