English Studies is an academic discipline that focuses on the historical development of the English language to its present-day form, as well as the history, literature, culture, society and politics of the English-speaking world. This includes the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, as well as the former territories of the British Empire.
