Description
Veterinary Medicine is the branch of Medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases and injuries in animals. Veterinary Medicine students learn about all animal species – domesticated and wild –, as well as a wide range of conditions affecting them. Veterinary Medicine is important, because it ensures the health of animals. Veterinary Medicine is also connected to Public Health, as it deals with the treatment of food-producing animals. The most common subjects taught in Veterinary Medicine degree programs typically include Animal Pathology and Parasitology, Anatomy, Physiology, Small and Large Animal Care, Metabolic Systems and Nutrition, Immunology, Anesthetics and more. Veterinary Medicine degree courses provide not only in-depth theoretical knowledge, but also the opportunity to apply it in practice and gain essential professional skills, like organization and time management skills, communication skills, empathy, leadership skills, as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills. Veterinary Medicine courses produce highly skilled and knowledgeable graduates who are prepared to work as veterinary practitioners, veterinary assistants, veterinary technicians, veterinary surgeons, zookeepers, conservation officers, animal behaviorists, scientific researchers, teachers, and many others.
