The Diploma degree program “Fine Arts / Stage and Costume Design” at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin, corresponding to a Master degree, provides a full-time course with a duration of ten semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to build a career as artistic designers who specialize in creating pieces of art for the big stage. The aim of it is to provide students with the groundwork of stage and costume design while encouraging them to think creatively and outside of the box. The remediation of non-psychical concepts to the visual medium allows participants to independently explore the processes of designing, communicating and executing their artistic ideas while learning how to use the necessary equipment for it. The notion of stage designing within the frameworks of antiquity and modernity plays a central role in the program.
