The six-semester study program “Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics” offered by Westphalian University located in Gelsenkirchen provides students with an education combining business and information technology knowledge. Thus, students will be later eligible to work at the crossroads of two fields- building and utilizing software solutions in order to assist with company activities and procedures. Students will become aware of the application of economic elements in software solutions from an IT standpoint. Throughout the first three semesters participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of the foundations of programming, business administration, accounting, and other relevant disciplines. The amount of practice-oriented instructional content increase form the fourth semester onwards. Students can pick from a wide choice of electives in the disciplines of computer science and business administration in addition to the mandatory speciality subjects. Incorporated to the curriculum, there are projects as well as a 14 week practical phase. The course of study culminated in a ten-week Bachelor`s thesis, which is generally completed in collaboration with a firm. Graduates of the program are qualified to work in software and consulting companies, IT-related service providers, etc.
