The six-semester study program “Bachelor of Science in Media Informatics” offered by Westphalian University located in Gelsenkirchen provides students with an education that put an emphasis on the application of informatics in the sphere of media. Students will gain not only basic computer science competencies, but also skills in the fields of media technology, design of interactive media, and computer graphics. The basic training part of the program contains topics such as theoretical computer science, technical and mathematical basics, technical English, etc. The more specialized subjects begin from the fourth semester and include 3D computer graphics, image composition, and other relevant disciplines. There is also an opportunity for attendance of elective modules in accordance with the students` personal interests such as film and video production, game development, web design, etc. Incorporated to the curriculum, there is also a software and multimedia project that needs to be completed, as well as a practical phase, which is perfect for making first contacts with prospective employers.
