Naturopathy is an alternative form of medicine that is based on concepts from vitalism and folk medicine. Naturopathy involves the use of natural remedies and the promotion of the self-healing properties of the human body. Some examples of natural remedies include herbs, massage, and acupuncture. The most common subjects studied in Naturopathy degree courses include Social Medicine, Medical Psychology, Natural Medical Healing Procedures, Diagnostics, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, Therapy, Drug Studies, Medical Ethics and more. Naturopathy studies provide students with in-depth knowledge of natural medical concepts, but are also very practice-oriented. Students in Naturopathy have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired and gain understanding of natural healing methods, the application of natural drugs and herbs to treat symptoms and patients. Potential careers for Naturopathy graduates include clinical trial assistant, alternative healing promoter, natural medicine sales representative, medical counselor and many others.
