Kreuzlingen is a town in the canton of Thurgau, northern Switzerland. The district holds the same name. Kreuzlingen is the largest Swiss city on Lake Constance and the second-largest city in the canton. The town is located on the shore of Lake Constance, southeast of the German city of Constance (directly opposite it). The climate in Kreuzlingen is moderate, with an average annual temperature of 9.6 °C. There are significant amounts of rainfall during the warmer months. Kreuzlingen has a population of over 20,000 people, but including the smaller neighboring communities and the neighboring city of Constance, the population amounts to 130,000 people. What is interesting about Kreuzlingen is that foreigners form 54.7 percent of the population, so it is one of the cities in Switzerland with the highest proportions of foreigners. However, the highest number of foreigners comes from Germany due to the close proximity to the border. The official language is German, but it is not unusual to also hear Italian, Albanian, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese, French and English. The town of Kreuzlingen is a railway junction where three railway lines meet. There are four train stations in the city, with trains operating on a daily basis. Kreuzlingen is also connected to the Swiss motorway A7, so the town is easily reachable by car and bus. Within the city, two public bus lines operate seven days a week.

Founded in 2003, the University of Teacher Education Thurgau is a public institution of higher education and a training center for teachers and pedagogues in the field of early childhood and secondary education. It currently accommodates about 800 students who are being training to be kindergarten, primary school and high-school teachers. The University of Teacher Education Thurgau offers Bachelor degree programs in Nursery/Pre-School, Primary Level Education, Secondary Level Education I and Secondary Level Education II, as well as Master degree programs in Early Childhood Education and School Development. All courses are taught in German, but English classes are an essential part of the curriculum. The University of Teacher Education Thurgau aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge and a practice-oriented approach. The University is in cooperation with the neighboring University of Konstanz, meaning that students can benefit from a cross-border study program. Programs are designed to meet the requirements of schools and educational institutions. The University prides itself on its modern infrastructure and the second-largest library in the canton of Thurgau. The staff and lecturers at the University of Teacher Education Thurgau are skilled professionals who give students the highest quality education and prepare them thoroughly for a job in the industry. Tuition fees are 3,800 CHF (or 3,500 EUR, respectively) per semester, excluding textbooks and materials. The University of Teacher Education Thurgau offers accommodation close to campus in single rooms in shared flats. Monthly rent ranges between 440 and 456 CHF (or between 400 and 420 EUR); a security deposit of 400 CHF must be paid prior to the stay. Private renting options in Kreuzlingen are also available. KREUZLINGEN LIFESTYLE

Kreuzlingen is a charming city with picturesque views of the nature and Lake Constance. There are ten buildings in the municipality that are considered to be castles, as well as six churches and chapels (Evangelical, Roman Catholic and Protestant), museums and other sights. The Lakeside complex is the largest public recreation center where visitors can enjoy the nature, visit the zoo, or go on a boat ride on the lake. There are regular events held in Kreuzlingen. The Dreispitz Sports and Culture Center hosts an International Dance Festival every summer, called the Salsa Festival Bodensee, where people can join a dance class. The local theater, the Theater an der Grenze, showcases different plays and performances, and “Fantastical in Kreuzlingen”, the lake night festival, takes place every August. A number of restaurants are located in Kreuzlingen. They serve local and international dishes. The nightlife in Kreuzlingen is also exciting. Students can visit clubs and bars both in the town and in the neighboring German city of Constance. The most popular places are Ambiente Kontaktbar Kreuzlingen, Berry’s Konstanz, P-Club, Club Imperia, Blue Cocktailbar, Sea Lounge, La Vizcaya Bar and others.
