Description

Anthropology is the study of human behavior in societies and their cultures, norms and values, both in the past and in the present. It is important because it helps gain a clear perspective of behavioral patterns and understand how culture influences groups of people. It has four main branches of specialization – Archaeological, Biological, Cultural and Linguistic Anthropology. Anthropology degree courses teach a variety of subjects, including Ethnology, Political Anthropology, Migration, Religious Studies, Language and Culture, Archaeology, Human Evolution, Primatology, Materiality, Biology and more. Students gain knowledge of various topics which are currently affecting society – for example, Globalization, Gender Inequality and Contemporary Culture in the Media. A degree program in Anthropology provides students with understanding of different concepts and theories, the ability to work independently, research, participate in debate and address relevant issues, and transferable professional communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking and technical skills. Anthropology graduates can expect a variety of career prospects. They can work in government and nongovernment organizations, market research, advising, communication, ecology, education, community development, healthcare, linguistics, human resources, public relations and many other fields.
