The degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Social and Cultural Anthropology” at the University of Hamburg” reflects a range of staff research interests, including political struggle and resistance, environmental politics, rural social transformation, science and technology. The program adopts a cross-cultural perspective on human behavior and social organization and emphasizes links with sociology, political science, history and economics. It teaches social construction of behavior during different times and at different corners of the globe. The aim of the course is that students understand different kinds of cultures and to learn to analyze how culture shapes human lives. After successfully graduating from the Bachelor's degree program, individuals are qualified to work as researchers, but also in different positions in the cultural field, media, museums or even in administration.
