RWTH Aachen University offers the six-semester degree program “Bachelor of Arts in German, Gymnasium and Gesamtschule Teacher’’. This full-time course of studies is designed for prospective students who wish to become teachers in secondary and comprehensive schools. Throughout their studies, participants will explore the key moments in literary-historical eras, while exploring the cultural history and genre theories. Along with this, students will also learn how to analyze, organize and place different texts according to specific theories, genres and issues respectively. The degree content for this discipline features basic and advanced modules in Linguistic and Communication Studies, German literary Studies, Modern and Old German literature, and more. The acquired knowledge and practical skills will prepare students for the demands in later teaching careers.
