RWTH Aachen University offers the project-oriented degree program “Master of Science in Urban Planning”. This is a full-time course of study with a duration of four semesters. Geared towards undergraduates who want to work as urban planners, this program teaches a combination of design and architecture. By enrolling in this program students will learn how to mediate between the different aspect of urban planning, namely planning conditions, funtional, spatial, social, technical, and legal requirements, as well as design intentions. The practical component has a very strong presence in this course offering students profeesional practice and research. In the first three semester students will devote half of their time on working projects that can be in the form of a holistic architectural design or a student research project. Graduates wih a degree in Urban Planning can pursue employment opportunities within private architectural and planning firms, construction and real estate companies, public administration, research institutions, and more.
