The Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, founded in 1773 and seated in Düsseldorf (North Rhine-Westphalia), is a public art school with the right to confer doctoral degrees. The Department of Art-related Sciences includes the study courses “History of Art“, “Art in the Public Sphere“, “Philosophy“, “Education“, “Didactics of Fine Arts“, “Sociology“, and “Poetry and Artistic Aesthetics“. Studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf are completed with a Diploma degree or with the state examination. The Department of Art-related Sciences also provides the opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree.
