University of Luzern

The University of Luzern, founded in 2000, is a university sponsored by the Canton of Luzern. Accomodating currently round about 2,790 students, it is the smallest university throughout Switzerland. The University of Luzern breaks down into four faculties: the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Law, as well as the Faculty of Economics and Management. On offer are Bachelor, Master, and doctoral programs. The scope of Bachelor studies comprises the degree programs “Ethics“, “Ethnology“, “History“, “Social and Communication Sciences“, “Jewish Studies“, “Cultural Studies“, “Philosophy“, “Philosophy, Politics and Economics“, “Political Sciences“, “Law“, “Religious Education“, “Study of Religion“, “Sociology“, “Theology“ (also offered as a distance learning program), as well as “Economics and Management“. The range of Master studies includes the study programs “Ethnology“, “History“, “History Bilingual“, “Social and Communication Sciences“, “Health Sciences“, “Jewish Studies“, “Cultural Studies“, “Liturgical Music“, “Philosophy“, “Political Sciences“, “Economics and Politics“, “Public Opinion and Survey Methodology“, “Law“, “Religion, Economics and Politics“, “Study of Religions“, “Sociology“, “Theology“, “World Society and Global Governance“, as well as “Science Studies“. On top of that, the University of Luzern, in partnership with the Teacher Training University of Central Switzerland Lucerne, offers interdisciplinary courses as well.
